William and Suzue believe passionately in sourcing ethically sound couverture chocolate and therefore work exclusively with Amedei for whom they are proud ambassadors.
Through Amedei, cacao has become a means of local rebirth: the Tuscan company is particularly attentive to improving the conditions in which the people who grow its cacao live, and the quality of their work. Amedei agronomists visit the villages at least twice a year to make sure that everything is going well, and have created a very special bond with the local campesin~os.
The sales contract with Amedei has therefore brought direct benefits to the local people, who get daily assistance from specialized agronomists and are supported in their efforts to produce not just quantity, but quality.
Amedei currently operates in some plantations in Venezuela, where it has replanted many trees and several varieties of Criollo, the most prized and rare type of bean. Its work to rebuild a lost tradition of cacao and bring new life to the region has thus had an extremely positive impact, even from the environmental standpoint.
Amedei uses only criollo and trinitario cocoa beans mainly coming from the following countries: Venezuela, Madagascar, Ecuador, Trinidad, Jamaica and Grenada.
